In preparation for the July 4th festivities, the City of Checotah is looking for any business that would like to advertise and/or sponsor an event or band. Advertisement and or sponsorships are subject to the advertisement policy in place for the Checotah Sports Complex. Advertisement and/or sponsorship would help cover the cost of materials and/or awards for an event. If any business would like to donate prizes, we ask that it be kid friendly. The City of Checotah tries to keep all events for the 4th of July free for everyone to enjoy. We would like to thank all past sponsors for helping make this event great for our community. We are also accepting vendor applications for food trucks and arts and crafts.

There is a water break on the SE side of town. There may be a reduction in water pressure. Estimated time of repair is 2 hours.
The City of Checotah android app is now available for download.
Attention: The City of Checotah Water Maintenance Crew will be out repairing a broken water line on the NW side of town. This will require water service to be temporarily disrupted and the time frame for its repair is 3.5 hours. We will work as fast as safely possible to restore water service.
The Water crew will be lowering pressure on the NW side of Checotah in order to repair a 4 in line break. Currently, there is no ETA on repair. Crews are working quickly as possible to fix the break.
The storm that prompted the sounding of sirens has been downgraded to a thunderstorm. However, please stay weather aware and stay safe. .
Friendly reminder as spring approaches:
The limb pile is open to the residents of The City of Checotah. The limb pile is for limbs only. This is also the time of year to register your fur babies and golf carts. To register your fur babies, you will need to bring in a photo of your baby, a current rabies shot record and it is $2.00 per baby. To register your golf cart, come in and visit with Adam for an inspection, bring your current insurance verification and $20.00 fee. Trash off is set for April 8-13. A roll off will be available at the City Maintenance yard located at 711 NE Main St. from the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. This is a self-service event. On April 13th, the City along with the Chamber will have volunteers to assist the elderly and disabled. If you need assistance with trash haul off, please call 918-473-2070. The City also has a new app. If you have an Iphone, go to the app store and download the City of Checotah app. Android users, we are still waiting for the app to be released. Checotah is home to many antique malls, a Civil War battle site and a downtown historic district, as well as the Katy Depot, and the Heartland Heritage Museum.
Checotah has three recreation facilities, Bessie Tabor Park, Tracy Scoggins Park and the Checotah Sports Complex. The Checotah Sports complex is home to the City’s little league sports, walking trail, splash pad, and disc golf.
The City of Checotah is nestled among the intersection of I-40 and US HWY 69 with an approximate population of 3400. Checotah is home to musician Carrie Underwood and numerous steer wrestlers. Checotah is near Lake Eufaula, which was once the largest manmade lake in the nation, with 640 miles of shoreline.
