With more storms expected we have prepared to open the shelter. Storm shelter is located at the Checotah Jr High School should anyone need to take cover over night. It is the tan building north of Truman Dixon Gym.

Citywide Trash off starts today Monday April 21st through Friday April 25th. Rolloff Dumpsters will be set at the City Water Barn at 721 NW Main from 8am till 3pm daily! Must have a proof of address or current water bill. There will be no one to unload you must do it yourself. No hazards are allowed.
Mayor Tarkington would like to thank the City Council for approving the projects that have impacted the water infrastructure within the City of Checotah. These projects have created better water quality and will provide the solution to this issue. The attached notice is required to be given to the public when the City fails a TTHM test. The failed test was done in 2024. The current 2025 test show that this issue is resolved.

The Checotah Public Works Department will be working on a water line Tuesday morning, March 25, 2025. This will cause the water to be off on the NE side of town from approximately 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Some areas could be affected for a longer period of time.
Quick reminder with this wind today to make sure you have your dumpsters and trash can lids secure to keep trash from scattering!
Checotah has been placed under a High Wind advisory for Friday March 14th. Wind speeds up around 30+ mph. Gusts as much as 65mph. You may want to secure anything outside that might blow away. Such as trash cans, tarps or trampolines. There is a potential for damage with these type winds. The City wants to make you aware of this potential so you can take precautions! Thank you.
